Week 7.

Unfortunately I became ill this week and could not make it to  Life Tec, so I asked my team members to take notes so that I could complete any tasks at a later date. I visited Life Tec last year so I already new what products they displayed and for what purposes.

The following text was compiled by Rafe Delaney, the group member that I asked to take notes.
During the visit we performed a group task, and I was lucky enough to join another group for the day to work on the project. We were asked to select a product from the show room floor that we thought had potential of being redesigned or improved for the user at hand.

Our group selected a gardening tool which was based as picking up gardening pots without the user having to physically bend over. The "Pot Picker" was designed in such a way that the overall physical force was obtain through the users arms and shoulders and not the lower back or legs.

Our general analysis on the product was that it was fairly tricky to master an accurate pick up as well as the overall material use being quiet poor and not ergonomically suitable for any user.

The redesign was based on creating a more ergonomical handle system which was not only be comfertable for users but also aid in using less energy then the previous design. In terms of picking up the actual pot the grasping system at the bottom was design to clamp onto the pots rather than just balance them. Within all of this the re designs materials were more weather proof and more comfertable ergonomically.

For week 7 we plan to look at the future scenario of use as well as what type of news we want to portray.
